Jump Jump Jump 06.05.16

In Gym this week we used the jumps that we have been learning to make a sequence of movements. We chose a jump, a roll and a balance and put them together. Miss Howells was really pleased to see us persevering with our jumps and engaging our core.

In English this week we did hot seating. We took on the role of different characters from 'Jim and the Beanstalk' and answered questions about the story. We wanted to know why Jim wasn't afraid of the Giant and why the Giant likes to eat fried boys.

In Maths we read a story called 'One is a Snail and Ten is a crab.' It was all about the number of legs that different creatures have and how these can be used to make different numbers:
One is a snail
Two is a person
Three is a person and a snail
Four is a dog
Five is a dog and a snail
Six is a fly
Seven is a fly and a snail
Eight is a spider
Nine is a spider and a snail
Ten is a crab.
We used our addition skills to find out what creatures we might see if we saw 10 legs in total.
How many different combinations can you find?

In Music we have been learning how to follow a score. A score tells you when to play your instruments and when to leave a rest. We sang a song called 'Collecting Coconuts' and created a variety of different scores for the beats at the end.

On Thursday we went to Forest Schools. Mrs Stewart split us into three groups of ten and we did three different activities. We made muddy creations in the Muddy Kitchen, drew maps of the forest schools area from a birds eye view and made stick Jim and stick Giants and Beanstalks. It was so much fun!

This weeks Learning Owl is Benjamin. He has been chosen for using his independence skills and challenging himself within his learning. Well done Plop, we hope you enjoy your weekend with Plop.

Todays Home Learning Challenge is to practise counting in 2's, 5's and 10's.

Have a lovely weekend and enjoy the sunshine!
