Today was our Sharing Assembly. It was fantastic! We all remembered our words and spoke clearly into the microphone. We sang two songs, 'Caterpillar Boogie' and 'Hello to all the children of the world' and some of us demonstrated gym balances at the front of the stage. Thank you to all our grown ups for coming to watch. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!
This week we also had our sports afternoon. We took part in lots of different activities like jump rope and speed stacks and worked with the other children in our colour group. It was lots of fun!
On Thursday we let our butterflies go. We opened the top of the net and let them go above the meadow. Some of the butterflies didn't want to come out so Miss Howells put her hand in the net and they climbed onto her finger. She said that it felt tickley! Some of the butterflies then flew between the flowers on the meadow, they liked the blue flowers best.
In English we finished our fantasy stories. We made sure to follow our plans and thought carefully about what wow! words to use to keep the reader interested.
This week everybody in Beech Class is a Learning Owl so Plop is going to enjoy a whole week out and about in the classroom next week.
Next week in Topic we are going to be learning about homes in the past so this weeks home learning is to ask a friend or relative what their house was and record your findings in your own way.

The life cycle of a butterfly 01.06.16
This week in Science we have been learning about the life cycle of a butterfly. We found out that a caterpillar sheds its skin several times before building it its chrysalis and that metamorphosis is the name given to the transformation from caterpillar to a butterfly.
The caterpillars in our classroom came out of their chrysalis's this week and now they are beautiful butterflies. Our butterflies are called painted ladies.
In English we drew our fantasy settings onto our glass jars, using special glass pens. We thought about what we would be able to see in our fantasy settings and generated WOW! words to describe these.
In Maths we been learning how to find a quarter of a number. We found out that you have to share the number into four equal groups. "A quarter of 16 is 4."
In Dance we thought about the next part of our splash dance. We thought about how we could travel along the bottom of the swimming pool and what we might do when we needed to take a breathe and added these to the movements we generated last week.
In Computing we explored using the text tools on clicker 6 to change the font, colour and size of our writing.
In PSHE we watched a video about changes and thought about how our learning has changed during our time in Year One.
This week Plop is going home with Miss Howells. He is looking forward to telling her all about his adventures this term and can't wait to see some of the children at the Strawberry Fayre tomorrow!
Next Friday is our sharing assembly so this weekend Miss Howells would like us all to learn our words.
